About Course

This six-week Graphic Design Course introduces learners to the principles and practical applications of graphic design using Adobe Illustrator, Canva, and basic Adobe Photoshop.

The course will primarily focus on Adobe Illustrator for professional vector design, Canva for quick digital content creation, and Adobe Photoshop for basic photo editing and enhancement.

The training adopts a hands-on approach, enabling learners to create logos, posters, social media graphics, business cards and promotional materials while building a beginner-level design portfolio.

This module covers: 1. Understanding graphic design and its applications 2. Principles of design: colour, contrast, balance, alignment and hierarchy 3. Typography and composition 4. Introduction to Adobe Illustrator and Canva interfaces

Adobe Illustrator Essentials
In this module, you will learn elements of Adobe Illustrator including: 1. Artboards, workspace, panels and navigation 2. Selection, shape, pen and type tools 3. Working with fills, strokes, layers and paths 4. Combining shapes with Shape Builder and Pathfinder 5. Saving and exporting Illustrator designs

Logo Design and Brand Identity
This module covers logo design principles including: 1. Types and characteristics of effective logos 2. Logo conceptualisation and sketching 3. Creating vector logos in Illustrator 4. Brand colours, fonts and visual consistency 5. Introduction to business card design

Canva and Social Media Graphic Design
This module covers: 1. Navigating Canva and using design templates 2. Customising fonts, colours, images and graphics 3. Creating Instagram and Facebook posts 4. Designing promotional banners and digital flyers 5. Applying consistent branding across designs

Print Design and Basic Photoshop Skills
This module introduces you to print design and photoshop. We cover the following topics: 1. Designing flyers and brochures in Illustrator 2. Understanding RGB, CMYK, bleed and print resolution 3. Photoshop interface and basic tools 4. Cropping, resizing and background removal 5. Basic brightness, contrast and colour adjustments 6. Importing edited images into Illustrator

Final Design Project and Portfolio Development
Understanding and interpreting a design brief Combining Illustrator, Canva and Photoshop skills In this module, we cover the following topics for portfolio development: 1. Reviewing and improving designs 2. Preparing files for print and digital publication 3. Organising and presenting a design portfolio 4. Introduction to working with design clients
